Tacoma man sentenced in multi-state drug trafficking case

Michael Young Jr., 44, will spend seven years in prison for conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington announced. Young was part of a group that distributed more than 800,000 fentanyl pills throughout the U.S., including in Arizona, Texas, Missouri, Montana, and Georgia. "Every pill you moved was a loaded gun " the sentence needs to hold you accountable for the lives you endangered," U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead said at the sentencing hearing. The ring was allegedly led by 32-year-old Marquis Jackson, who lived in Atlanta and with his parents, 51-year-old Mandel Jackson and 50-year-old Matelita (Marty) Jackson, in Renton. Stolen dog kidnapped by 17-time felon found safe by Tacoma Police after missing for months

Buddy, a three-year-old "micro bully dog," escaped his family's yard this past summer. A neighbor reported seeing Buddy run down the street and caught him. Another neighbor, named Jose Haughton, said he would return Buddy to his family. Video evidence from Haughton's home, a transitional housing facility, showed that the dog was inside the house, but Haughton denied ever having the dog. SWAT team responds to hostage situation in Tacoma, 2 dead

At approximately 9:47 p.m., Tacoma Police Department (TPD) officers responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the 700 block of S. 38th Street in Tacoma, TPD announced Monday. Officers surrounded the location upon arrival and began to negotiate with the individuals as additional resources were dispatched to the scene. The TPD SWAT team was called in to assist and negotiated with the male and female for several hours.
